Haiti 2000

On February 14, 2000 approximately 20 people including myself traveled to Grande Goave, Haiti with a group called Lifeline Ministries. There were 2 Doctors, and 2 Nurses with us. We worked on several projects while we're there, we also had the chance to worship with our Christian brothers and sister in a couple of churches in the area. At one church in particular we had to walk up a mountain path about 3 miles. We headed to the church at about 5:30PM and made it to the church well after dark. As we came over a ridge and bend in the mountain path and the church came into view it was amazing. It looked like a picnic pavilion there was no electricity and the entire place was lit by one Coleman lantern, and in that church there were over 400 people worshiping.

Haiti is a county of contrasts, beauty and poverty, joy and dispair. It's also a country of constant change. The only thing that never changes is the love of God, which could be seen on the faces of the Christians, and heard in the voices of the children.

There were many things that amazed me, one of the biggest things was how I was changed by the whole experience. I kept a journal about the trip and if I can get my wife to type it up I will post it here. Until then here are a few pictures. BTW, we have started working on next years trip already!
