Nature
I've laid in the woods and
talked to the trees
Seen grass turn white from a cool night's freeze
Seen mist like ghosts rise from the swamp
Heard the white tail buck snort and stomp
I've counted ducks by the hundreds flying at dusk
Seen fire in the sky from the aurora borealis
I've been on a mountain on my hands and knees
Feasting in a secret field of blueberries
I've walked the forest in the dead of night
Following a path by feel and not by sight
I watched the loon dance and heard it cry
Seen showers of stars burning the sky
When my time come to leave this earth
Of all the things that I've found since birth
I won't miss much this world had to give
But I'll miss the forest where I learned to live
